Keeping track of your own working hours is next to impossible, especially if you are too focused on the actual work. Time Doctor Tasks can be quite helpful, if you are paid by the hour or if you have other reasons to remember how many hours you put into certain tasks. The software is capable of keeping track of your working hours and it can generate various reports and statistics, for you and for your co-workers. Also, it allows you to manage and prioritize your tasks and pause the time tracking feature, for a more accurate reading.

The software is free to try, without any functionality restrictions. Besides Time Doctor Tasks, a lighter version is available as well, simply named Time Doctor, which can be used to keep track of fewer tasks, which don't change often. Both versions are compatible with all major platforms, including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and they are available for iOS devices as well. You don't have to meet any special requirements or sacrifice too many resources to run the software, but you have to create an online account.

Time Doctor Tasks's user interface has a clean and efficient layout. Its controls are well organized, easy to spot and they should not present a challenge even for novice users. All you have to do is type in the name of a task and hit a Go button, after which you can focus on your work, without having to think about the time you spend with the specified task. Created tasks are listed in the larger area of the interface, along with their elapsed times. If you need to take a break, you may click a button to pause the recording, after which you can resume it by clicking another button, next to the tasks's entry. If your work is done for the current day, but the task is not complete, you may click the "Finish Work" option. The next time you run Time Doctor Tasks, the program will display a reminder about your current task, along with options for resuming or postponing.

The software can record your working hours from the background, so you don't have to keep it visible on your desktop or on the task bar. While a task is active or paused, its name will be displayed on a small and unobtrusive activity bar, directly on the desktop, so you won't forget to pause or resume a task when necessary. Tasks can be created in different folders, depending on their priority, but you can also create your own folders, to categorize your tasks however you want. In addition, you can specify a project name as well, when creating a new task. This will automatically create a new folder, with the project's name.

All the statistics you need about your working hours can be found on a web-based user interface. The tasks you have worked on are displayed as colored bars in a timeline and you can also view them in a list and edit the recorded times if you need to. Additionally, you can access various reports about your tasks and the time you have spent working, as well as screenshots. What's more, Time Doctor Tasks gives you the possibility of connecting to other users. If you invite your co-workers or receive an invitation yourself, you will be able to view the same statistics for everyone, on the same web interface.

Pros

You only need to type the name of a task and the program will keep track of your working hours automatically. Tasks can be created in different folders, based on category, project or priority. Time Doctor Tasks provides a vast range of useful statistics, on a web-based interface.

Cons

There are no serious issues to mention. With Time Doctor Tasks, you and your co-workers will always know how long it takes to complete a project and how to bill your clients.
